My lab is focused on the Ecology of Desiccation Tolerance (DT) in mosses, where we use cultured shoots and plant structures to assess the inherent ecological strategy of DT, i.e., where upon the continuum from constitutive to inducible protection the particular species or plant structure falls. A life history approach is employed where protonema, shoots, asexual propagules, bred sporophytes, spores, and gametangia are candidates for test. Syntrichia and Bryum species are under current study.
