My research interests are in ecology and evolution, biodiversity conservation and environmental decision making. Much of my work is focused on understanding animal and plant responses to fire, landscape modification and climate change.

This includes doing a mix of ecological modelling, field experiments and scenario analysis. I am a Senior Lecturer in Ecology and work in the School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences. I was recently awarded a Centenary Fellowship by the University of Melbourne to start new research on plants, evolutionary adaptation and global change. My position involves close collaboration with researchers across the Faculty of Science including in the Quantitative and Applied Ecology Group and the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute. From 2015-2017 I was based in Spain at the Forest Sciences Centre of Catalonia. I continue to work closely with the Biodiversity and Landscape Ecology lab in Solsona, Spain. My work from 2011-2018 was completed as a member of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Environmental Decisions. I completed my PhD at Deakin University in 2011, where I studied the distribution, ecology and conservation of small mammals in semi-arid Australia. I still love working on mammals.
