Bio
M. Alper Sahiner received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering and the B.S. degree in physics from Bogazici University, Bebek, Istanbul, Turkey, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, in 1995. He contributed to the field of high temperature superconductivity in layered cuprate compounds during his Ph.D and post doctoral studies.
He is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Seton Hall University (SHU), South Orange, NJ. After completing his post-doctoral studies at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada, he had worked at the Brookhaven National Laboratory as a Beamline Scientist from 1998 to 1999. In 1999, he was a Senior Scientist at Evans East, East Windsor, NJ, which is a member of a distinguished worldwide network of surface characterization laboratories called Evans Analytical Group. In 2003, he joined the Physics Department, SHU. His current research interests are pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and electrical and structural characterization of high-$\kappa$ dielectric materials. He has authored 23 peer-reviewed scientific articles and is a reviewer for leading funding agencies, scientific journals, and text books.
Dr. Sahiner is a member of American Physical Society, Materials Research Society, and International XAFS Society. In 1999, he served as a member in the Interim Council and the Scientific Committee of the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME).
