Mac McKee received the B.S. degree in philosophy, the M.S. degree in systems ecology, and the Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering (water resources and hydrology) from Utah State University, Logan, in 1972, 1979, and 1985, respectively. He is currently the Director of the Utah Water Research Laboratory, Utah State University (USU). He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in water resources systems analysis, water resources engineering, and water resources planning and management in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, USU. He has been active in domestic and international water resources planning and management projects for the past 33 years. His diverse experience has included assignments in flood control planning and design in the Philippines, the development of an environmental baseline document for Uzbekistan, water quality management in Samoa, integrated river basin planning and management in India, and the development of a comprehensive water resource master plan and integrated water management plans for the West Bank and Gaza Strip. On many assignments, he had the chief responsibility for providing decision-relevant information on contentious water development issues at local, interstate, and international levels. Examples include the design of plans for managing interstate rivers in India and the formulation and implementation of a planning framework for the development of Palestinian water resources in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. His current research is focused on the improvement of irrigation canal and reservoir operation efficiency through the use of statistical learning theory and remote sensing.
