Matthew is a specialist in the use of inelastic neutron scattering techniques for the study of magnetic materials. His current research examines the relationship between the connectivity of magnetic ions in different geometrical lattices and the resulting quantum excitations in these materials. Dr. Stone also develops new methods and hardware for improving inelastic neutron scattering measurements using the direct geometry time-of-flight spectrometers at the SNS.
