Matthias Wietz

My research focuses on the taxonomic and functional diversity of bacteria in polar oceans and sea-ice; combining molecular and biogeochemical evidence over time and space. Prior, I've studied different aspects of marine microbial ecology, biogeography and ecophysiology at University of Oldenburg, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Technical University of Denmark, and Australian Institute of Marine Science.
