Mauricio Castillo

Matthew Mauro Distinguished Professor of Radiology at UNC. I was born in Guatemala, received my training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami followed by a 2-year fellowship in Neuroradiology at Emory University in Atlanta. For a short 18 months I was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas in Houston and then became Chief of the Division of Neuroradiology and Professor of Radiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill a position I held for nearly 30 years before stepping down. My list of publications includes over 680 articles (peer review and invited) as principal or co-author and 27 books. I have given over 1200 invited lectures. I have served as President of ARRS and a member of its Executive Council, ASNR President, and Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Neuroradiology. I was honored with the Gold Medals from ASNR and ARRS and was President of the 2022 Symposium Neuroradiologicum.
