Md. Shahinoor Rahman received the bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the master’s degree in regional development planning and management jointly offered by TU-Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany, and the Universidad Austral de Chile, Los Ríos, Chile, and the Ph.D. degree in earth systems and geoinformation sciences from George Mason University (GMU), Fairfax, VA, USA, in December 2019. He was a former Assistant Professor with apex Engineering University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, New Jersey City University (NJCU), Jersey City, NJ, USA. He primarily specializes in the application of remote sensing (RS) and geographic information science (GIS) to examine the cause of–and innovative solutions to–some of our world’s most pressing environmental challenges including climate change impact on soil and water, agricultural damage, coastal vulnerability, natural hazard risks, environmental degradation by urban expansion, and urban heat island effect. He utilizes data mining, ML, and spatial analytics approaches in his research. His broad goal is to utilize advanced geospatial technologies for the betterment of our society and environment. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award 2020 from the Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science at GMU for his excellence in the studies, prolific track record of scholarly publications. He is a reviewer of many reputed journals in remote sensing and GIS fields. He is also serving as a Special Issue Editor for MDPI Land.
