Michael Hahn

Michael Hahn received the Engineering degree from the University of Karlsruhe in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Stuttgart in 1994. He is an expert in the field of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Geomatics. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher and an Australian Research Council Fellow at the School of Electrical Engineering, Queensland University of Technology. Since 1998, he has been Professor of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Geomatics at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT). Recognizing his significant contributions, the HFT awarded him a Senior Professorship in 2024. He served as Vice President for Research at HFT from 2001 to 2007, demonstrating leadership and commitment to academic excellence. Throughout his career, he has been committed to advancing the field and has chaired working groups of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing for nearly two decades. His scientific influence is reflected in his extensive publication list with over 150 co-authored papers in prestigious journals and conferences. He expertise has been acknowledged globally, with an honorary professorship bestowed upon him by the University of Queensland in 2002, and Adjunct Professorships at the Queensland University of Technology in 1997, and the University of Tehran in 2015. His research interests include photogrammetry, remote sensing, sensor integration, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
