Michelle D Williams, MD is a Professor in Anatomical Pathology and Section Chief for Head and Neck Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and is a board-certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist. Dr. Williams has over 18 years of experience providing pathologic assessment of thyroid, parathyroid and head and neck cancers. Her expertise in endocrine and head and neck neoplasia is internationally recognized through involvement as a coauthor on The World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumours: Pathology and Genetics of Endocrine and Head and Neck Tumour books. Clinical trials are also an interest of hers as the dedication thyroid pathologist during this historic time of advancing thyroid cancer treatments, as well as her dedication to trial and research reviews as Chair of one of MD Anderson Institutional Review Boards. Dr. Williams’s research collaborations span development of novel resources, including cell lines and PDX models through tissue collections, biomarker development, and neoadjuvant therapeutic pathologic assessments. Additionally, her work through multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations utilizing optical imaging for enhancing oral neoplasia detection and machine learning continue to advance disease detection and future image-based personal therapy.
