Mihai Anitescu

Mihai Anitescu (Member, IEEE) received the engineering diploma in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematical and computational sciences from the Iowa City, IA, USA, in 1997. He is currently a Senior Computational Mathematician with Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL, USA, and a Professor with the Department of Statistics, University of Chicago. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 papers in scholarly journals and book chapters in the areas of his research interests, which include numerical optimization, computational science, numerical analysis, and uncertainty quantification. Dr. Anitescu is on the Editorial Board of the SIAM Journal on Optimization and is a Senior Editor of Optimization Methods and Software. He is a Past Member of the editorial boards of the Mathematical Programming A and B, SIAM Journal on Uncertainty Quantification, and SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing. He has been recognized for his work in applied mathematics by his selection as a SIAM Fellow in 2019.
