J. B. Blake

J. Bernard Blake received the B.S. degree in engineering physics and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, Champaign, IL, USA, in 1957, 1958, and 1962, respectively. He joined the Space Sciences Laboratory, The Aerospace Corporation, Los Angeles, CA, USA, as a member of the Technical Staff, and became the Director of the Department of Space Sciences. He is currently a Distinguished Scientist. His professional activity has included research on beta decay, the Mossbauer effect, magnetospheric, auroral and cosmic-ray physics, and nuclear astrophysics. His applied work has been concerned with the interaction of the natural space environment with satellite systems, radiation damage effects, single-particle phenomena, and anomaly analyzes of various satellite subsystems. Dr. Blake held industrial fellowships from Raytheon and Texas Instruments.
