Virus-host interactions and liver disease

HCV and HBV are a major causes of hepatitis worldwide. Chronic viral hepatitis C or B may progress to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Efficient antiviral treatment and viral cure reduce but do not eliminate the risk of HCC development. Our research focuses on the characterization of virus host-interactions and the pathogenesis of viral infection. We are particularly interested in deciphering virus-induced alteration of regulatory networks involved in liver disease and cancer.
