He has been elected as a Master of both the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of UK (FRCP). He is also a recipient of the ACR’s Distinguished Rheumatologist Award. He had served as a member of the National Advisory Board for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Disorders (NIAMS). His research interests center around the clinical, immunogenetic and therapeutic aspects of rheumatic diseases, with special focus on ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and related forms of spondyloarthritis (SpA), and rheumatoid arthritis.
