I am Physical Activity Epidemiologist with a strong interest in the measurement of fatigability, physical activity, fitness, and physical function in older adult populations. Recently, I designed and validated the Pittsburgh Fatigability Scale, a unique assessment tool to measure fatigability in older adults. The PFS is being used in several large scale domestic and international research studies. I am also the PI of the Developmental Epidemiologic Cohort Study (DECOS), which was designed to evaluate established tools to measure physical activity, fatigability, fitness, and muscle function as they relate to physical function in order to establish optimal tools for future epidemiologic studies in older adult populations. I am also a Co-Investigator/Program Director for two major National Institutes of Health funded studies, The LIFE Study and the Long Life Family Study. For The LIFE Study, I serve as Chair of both the Field Operations and Successful Aging Health Education Committees for this 8 site multicenter clinical trial. I also serve as the Director, Master's Degree Programs in Epidemiology and teach EPIDEM 2183, Reading, Analyzing and Interpreting the Medical and Public Health Literature. I also regularly serve on essay, thesis, and dissertation committees. I am the Founder and Faculty Liaison for the community service group Epi Gives Back.
