Bio
He continues to lead a group in bio-image informatics, mathematical modelling and data visualisation, developing methodologies to deal with the current deluge of data that new microscopy imaging technologies have enabled.
He leads a group in Mathematical Modelling, Machine Learning, Data Analysis and Visualisation, and Image Analysis and has published widely in bioinformatics, information technology, and mathematics. In 2000, his research in mathematics was recognised with the award of The Kirkman Medal. His current research focuses on image classification, clustering and visualisation and utilises and develops techniques in areas such as machine learning, data clustering, graph algorithms, image segmentation, statistical testing and mathematical modelling. He has developed and released a wide range of bioinformatic software - most recently iCluster, a visualisation and clustering tool for high-thoughput subcellular imaging which is used in labs in Australia, Europe and the USA.
