Dereje Nigussie Woldemichael

My name is Dereje Nigussie Woldemichael. I received my MSc degree in Medical Pharmacology from Addis Ababa University, School of Medicine which is one of the pioneer Universities in the country. I have attended also diploma in animal health in Addis Ababa University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and diploma in Vaccinology from Pasteur Institute. In addition, I was also trained on ISO 9001:2015, good clinical laboratory practice and clinical trial, neglected disease drug discovery, veterinary vaccines quality control and training on laboratory quality management. Currently I am working at Ethiopian Pubic Health Institute, Vaccines and Diagnostic Research Directorate as Researcher. I am confident in my academic background and research experience I gained since now. During my short scientific career, I have conscientiously strived to gain as much research experience as possible. I have experience with research work in the area of Natural Products Pharmacology and toxicology study, Pre-clinical development of vaccine and familiar with LC-MS, HPLC and molecular techniques such as ELSIA, EMSA, CHIP and western blot. I designed and implemented an independent project, ‘In-vitro Investigation Albezia Gummifera seed against Intera-cellular Leishmania Donovani Parasite’. Currently, I am working on the project ‘In vitro therapeutic efficacy and toxicity study of standard drugs of leishmaniasis and their effects on M1/M2 polarization and host immune stimulation during infection’. Additionally, research works on activity of some medicinal plants such as hepato-protective activity and anti-leshimanial activities of medicinal plants.
