Payam Abolghasem received the B.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2004, the M.A.Sc. degree from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 2011. From 2011 to 2013, he was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow with the University of Toronto, supporting commercialization of Bragg Reflection Waveguides as widely tunable sources of parametric light in AlGaAs for sensing applications and for on-chip generation of entangled photon-pairs. In 2013, he joined MACOM (former BinOptics), Ithaca, NY, USA, were he was part of the R&D team developing 10G and 25G directly modulated InP lasers for CWDM applications. In 2015, he joined Infinera, Sunnyvale, CA, USA, where he is currently working on the next generation of InP-based coherent optical receivers for metro and long-haul optical networks. His research interests include integrated photonics, nonlinear processes in semiconductors, and photon-pair sources for quantum communication.
