Subramania Athiray

P. S. Athiray graduated in Physics from the Indian Space Research Organization, India in 2015. He was awarded with the Ph.D. (Physics) at the Calicut University. His thesis discusses the surface composition of the Moon using X-ray data from Chandrayaan-1 and design of an X-ray spectrometer for Chandrayaan-2. Since Nov2016, he has been with the FOXSI sounding rocket group at the University of Minnesota. He analyzes multi-instrument solar data (including FOXSI) to study DEM of solar micro flares. He characterize X-ray detectors/optics using experimental methods involving synchrotron facility at ALS. At present, he is a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at Marshall Space Flight Center, working on the development of high resolution soft X-ray imaging spectrometer sounding rocket instrument MaGIXS.
