Although I’m an omnivorous of science, I am a conservation biologist interested in population ecology and animal behaviour, with the primarily interest to translate my knowledge into pragmatic approaches for decision-making and wildlife management. I focus my research on raptors as my study models. My research combines multidisciplinary approaches including fieldwork, analysis of satellite telemetry data, population dynamics and spatial analysis. In the last years, I have focused my research to the emergent discipline of movement ecology which is aimed at studying the fascinating world of animal movement. The overall objectives of my current research lines are to use and apply big data recorded by high-resolution GPS/GSM tracking technologies: i) to gain insight into the ecological responses by which long-distance migratory birds respond to ecological variations in their environment; ii) to predict how global change could influence animal behaviour; and iii) to apply this information for the conservation of endangered species.
