Retired Reader in Palaeobiology, Open University. Teaching: evolution to Earth system science, including ‘Evolution – a biological and palaeontological approach’ (1993), ‘Cladistics – a practical primer on CD-ROM’ (2002, CUP) and ‘The Cretaceous World’ (2003, CUP). For 'Darwin200', 2009, contributed to ‘Evolution Megalab’ on banded snails, and BBC ‘Tree of Life’ poster. Work on extinct rudist bivalves links carbonate platform growth and the carbon cycle in Late Mesozoic.
