Pierre Cortes

Pierre Cortes received the Engineer degree in energy engineering from ENSAIS, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, in 1990 and the degree in business administration from IAE, Aix en Provence, France, in 1994. From 1990 to 1997, he was with many different companies, in charge of designing, commissioning, or operating nuclear facilities. He is also the Convener of the ISO standards working group related to confinement and radiation protection. From 1997 to 2008, he was with the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety, in charge of teams involved in safety issues associated with the confinement and radiation protection aspects of all French nuclear facilities and of some nuclear power plants in Eastern European countries. He is currently the Head of the Safety Analysis and Assessment Section, ITER Organization (magnetic fusion energy), Saint Paul lez Durance, France (from September 2008). He is notably in charge of the radiation protection issues and environmental radiological and chemical consequences of the ITER facility to the environment.
