Pietro Patimisco received the master’s (cum laude) and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Bari, Bari, Italy, in 2009 and 2013, respectively. He was a Visiting Scientist with the Laser Science Group, Rice University, Houston, TX, USA, in 2013 and 2014. Since 2013, he has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the University of Bari. His scientific activity addressed both microprobe optical characterization of semiconductor optoelectronic devices and optoacoustic gas sensors. His research interests included the study and applications of trace-gas sensors, such as quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy and cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy in the mid infrared and terahertz spectral region, leading to several publications, including a cover paper in Applied Physics Letter in the July 2013 issue.
