Pulak Nath

Dr. Nath has more than 12 years of experience in microfluidics. He established the Magnetics, Microfluidics, and Miniaturization lab at the Applied Modern Physics Group (P-21), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Los Alamos, NM. He has developed novel permanent magnets for use in portable NMR and magnetic particle manipulation applications; automated sample preparation for diagnostics; droplet microfluidic platforms to study cell-cell interactions; genetically engineered ‘magnetic’ algae for biofuels and bio/nano-product; and a rapid prototyping method to develop complex bioreactors such as organ-on-a-chips. Dr. Nath has received several awards including distinguished mentor award in 2012, LANL R&D 100 finalist in 2012, the distinguished performance award in 2014, and NMSBA (New Mexico Small Business Assistantship Program) Principal Investigator Excellence Award in 2015, LANL DisrupTECH in 2016, FLC (Federal Lab Consortium) Mid-Continent Regional Award in 2016, and R&D 100 award in 2016. He is also a member of the LANL physics division science council. He serves as reviewer for multiple journals including Lab on a chip and Biomedical Microdevices.
