My research interests involve the diagnosis and management of hypertension in hemodialysis patients. In addition, I am also involved in research relating to hypertension in chronic kidney disease including the use of various renoprotective therapies. My laboratory is involved in measurement of GFR, renal plasma flow, ambulatory blood pressure, resting energy expenditure and cardiac output. We have a full service research echocardiographic laboratory with a research echocardiographer and a vascular technician. The laboratory is equipped with a dedicated echocardiogram, vascular probes, adult echo probes and digital storage and analysis of images. We are also investigating the role of oxidative stress as it impacts the vascular endothelium and the kidney using specific HPLC assays for oxidative stress.
