::EN Ricardo J. Machado (DEng, MSc, PhD, Dr. Habil, MSOEP, SMIEEE, CSPM-ISPMA) is a Full Professor (Professor Catedrático) of Information Systems Engineering at the University of Minho and Founder & Scientific Coordinator of the SEMAG (Software-based Information Systems Engineering and Management) R&I group of the ALGORITMI Research Centre. Currently, he is also President of the CCG/ZGDV Institute and of the DTx Digital Transformation CoLab. His primary research interests are modelling and requirements, systems architecture, and process and project management. He also has interests in information semantics, ontologies, and cognitive computing. He has created several methods and tools for requirements analysis and architecture design, including the shobi-PN meta-model (an extension of object-oriented Petri nets) and the 4SRS (4-Step Rule Set) method. He is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed papers, inventor of 4 patents, and editor/co-author of several books, including "Requirements in Engineering Projects" from Springer-Switzerland and "Requisitos em Projetos de Software e de Sistemas de Informação" from Novatec-Brazil. His strong commitment to applied research at the service of the economy and society led him to promote the creation of the EPMQ Lab (currently, an R&I dept.) at the CCG/ZGDV Institute, the DTx Digital Transformation CoLab, and the ProChild CoLab Against Poverty and Social Exclusion. He has performed other leading roles, such as Vice-Rector of UMinho, coordinating, namely, the UMinho strategy and policy for information systems and institutional quality and the UMinho programs and measures in the field of advanced and cognitive computing and machine learning. Ricardo J. Machado received the DEng degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto, the MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Engineering, and the Dr. Habil academic title in the subject domain of Information Systems Engineering from the University of Minho. Actualmente, é também Presidente do Instituto CCG/ZGDV e do DTx Laboratório Colaborativo em Transformação Digital. Os seus tópicos de investigação principais enquadram-se na modelação, requisitos e arquitectura de sistemas e na gestão de processos e projectos. Também tem interesses científicos em semântica da informação, ontologias e computação cognitiva. Nestes âmbitos, criou vários métodos e ferramentas para análise de requisitos e concepção de arquitecturas, nomeadamente o meta-modelo shobi-PN (uma extensão de redes de Petri orientadas a objectos) e o método 4SRS (4-Step Rule Set). É autor de mais de 200 artigos indexados, inventor de 4 patentes e editor/co-autor de vários livros, tais como "Requirements in Engineering Projects" da Springer-Switzerland e "Requisitos em Projetos de Software e de Sistemas de Informação" da Novatec-Brasil. Coordenou mais de 50 projectos de I&D, financiados pela FCT, ANI, IAPMEI e UE, destacando-se o "SSI: Sustainable Software Industry" em parceria com a Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), o "SusCity: Urban Data Driven Models for Creative and Resourceful Urban Transitions" em parceria com o Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), o "C4E: Cloud for Europe" em parceria com o Fraunhofer FOKUS e o "iFlow: Inbound Logistics Tracking System" em parceria com a Bosch Car Multimedia. O seu forte compromisso com a investigação aplicada ao serviço da economia e da sociedade levou-o a promover a criação do EPMQ Lab do Instituto CCG/ZGDV, do DTx Laboratório Colaborativo em Transformação Digital e do ProChild CoLab Against Poverty and Social Exclusion. Desempenhou diversos cargos de liderança, tais como Vice-Reitor da UMinho, coordenando, nomeadamente, a estratégia e a política da UMinho para os sistemas de informação e qualidade institucional e os programas e as medidas da UMinho na área da computação avançada e cognitiva e aprendizagem computacional. Ricardo J. Machado obteve o grau de Licenciado em Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadores pela Universidade do Porto, os graus de Mestre e Doutor em Informática/Engenharia de Computadores e o título académico de Agregado em Tecnologias e Sistemas de Informação pela Universidade do Minho.
