Risto Mikkonen

Risto Mikkonen was born in Tampere, Finland, in 1959. He received the M.Sc. and Licentiate degrees in electrical engineering from Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland, in 1984 and 1987, respectively. In 1983, he joined the Institute of Electromagnetics (since the beginning of 2013, Electromagnetics at the Department of Electrical Engineering), Tampere University of Technology. Since 1993, he has acted as a Lecturer in the department. His main research interest covers considerations of superconductivity in energy applications. Mr. Mikkonen has been a member of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development/International Energy Agency Expert Committee considering high-temperature superconductor on the electric power sector since 1996 and of the International Organizing Committee of Magnet Technology Conference since 1999.
