Regan Watts received the B.Tech. degree in optoelectronics, the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, in 2001, 2003, and 2008, respectively. He was a Founding Member of academic start-up company Southern Photonics, Ltd., Auckland, in 2002. After completing his Ph.D., he became a Senior Engineer with Southern Photonics, Ltd., developing new fiber optic test and measurement instrumentation. He took research role at the School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University, in May 2010, where he is currently a Research Fellow. He has published more than 45 international peer-reviewed journals and conferences and holds three patents. His research interests include optical test and measurement, and test-bed validation of novel laser devices for optical interconnect applications.
