Rado Pisot

CURRICULUM VITAE Prof . dr. Rado Pisot was born on 9th of September, 1962 in Koper. After graduation he continued his study at the Faculty of Sports in Ljubljana. He achieved his master’s degree in Kinesiology institute in Zagreb in 1994. In 1997 he got his PhD in kinesiology sciences with dissertation “The Model of the Motor Space of Six-and-a-Half-Year-Old Children Before and After Partialization of Morphological Characteristics”. His research achievements have been published in many internationally known journals. He has also written many scientific monographs, manuals and text books. He was one of the initiators of University of Primorska and the first dean of Faculty og Education in Koper. He is the founding father of institute for Kinesiology research (IKARUS) which is operating within the Science and Research Centre of the University of Primorska (UP ZRS) and has its laboratory at the Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital. The laboratory contains all necessary instruments for movement analysis (high-speed cameras with software, multi-channel telemetric systems for monitoring muscle activation and heart rhythm, ground force plate sensors for analysis of posture and/or movement in static and dynamic environment, non-invasive diagnostic tools for biomedical imaging and skeletal muscle contractile properties). He is also a member of Science council in Science and research centre, University of Primorska and a member of Senate at University of Primorska. For his science work he was awarded with reward of UP; Science and Research Centre »Glasnik znanosti« (Promoter of Science), with award of the University of Primorska »Zlata plaketa« and the award of Economy of Primorska »Primorski um 2007« (for transfer the science to economy). In December 2007, he became vice rector for science and research at the University of Primorska. In 2009 he was appointed as a full professor and research councillor at the University of Primorska. He is cooperating in several international projects HEPA EU (Health Enhancing Physical Activity) 2003 - 2007; Bed – rest 2006 – 2009; WADA - Metabolic detection of insulin abuse in sport 2007-2009; Central and peripheral limitations to oxidative metabolism in body builders and Muscle and connective tissue adaptations and functional consequences of extreme hypertrophy in male body builders – 2009 – 2011. He initiated and together with his colleagues organized and coordinated research in simulated weightlessness and its influence of the human organism. The research of Influence of Simulated Weightlessness on the Human Organism developed in a research programme Bedrest Valdoltra 2006, 2009 conducted in co-operation with several distinguished foreign researchers and institutions (Karolinska Institutet Stockholm, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Trieste, University of Bari, University of Udine, etc.). He is the head of and a researcher in several national research projects: research program – Kinesiology for quality of Life (2009 – 2012) and several research projects - Health Enhancing Motor/Sporting Activity; Preparation of Criteria for Selection and Retention of Slovene Soldiers in the Army (conducted in co-operation with the Slovene Ministry of Defense); Combatant’s Equipment (conducted in co-operation with the Slovene Ministry of Defense); Influence of Various Behavioural Styles on Children; Function of Biomechanical Properties of Skeletal Muscles in a Child's Motor Development; Monitoring Biomechanical Properties of Skeletal Muscles During Childhood and Adolescence; Altitude Acclimatization and Analysis of fundamental motor patterns, skeletal and muscular adaptation to specific sedentary lifestyle factors in children aged 4 – 7 years (2009 – 2012). He is also the writer of many article reviews published in internationally acknowledged journals. His works have been cited in Slovenia and abroad.
