Raj M Vyas

Dr. Raj Vyas is Professor and Vice-Chair of UC Irvine’s Department of Plastic Surgery and Chief of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at CHOC Children’s Hospital. He is a board-certified craniofacial plastic surgeon and currently serves on ASPS’s Technology, Innovation and Disruption Committee and Volunteers in Plastic Surgery (VIPS) Committee, amongst others. He is Co-Director of Research for the PSF/ASPS SHARE initiative (Surgeon in Humanitarian Alliance for Reconstruction, Research and Education). Dr. Vyas studied Biology and Economics at Stanford University, where he earned the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and graduated with Honors & Distinction. He completed medical education at UCLA, where he served as Alpha Omega Alpha chapter president and received numerous honors including the Longmire Medal (top medical student in surgery) and the Stafford L. Warren Medal (top overall medical student). Dr. Vyas trained in the Harvard Combined Plastic Surgery Residency and completed Craniofacial Fellowship at New York University. He is active in basic science, clinical and translational research and is particularly passionate about building global capacity for cleft and craniofacial care with the help of technology and innovation that assists with remote knowledge and skill transfer.
