Richard Gillilan

My lab focuses on developing novel high-pressure X-ray scattering techniques and other biophysical methods to help answer questions about life under extreme conditions. I am most interested in the role that deep ocean and subsurface pressure and temperature may have played in our evolutionary history. I am also interested in highly-concentrated biomolecular solutions and liquid-liquid phase separation as they relate to extremophiles and origin of life.
