Rob J. Kulathinal

Rob Kulathinal was born in Toronto, ON, Canada. He received the B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in biology from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada, and the Ph.D. degree in evolutionary genetics from McMaster University in 2001. He was trained as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, and taught a year-long course on the genomics of speciation at Harvard College. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Computational Genetics and Genomics, Department of Biology, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, where he teaches several courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including evolutionary genomics and topics in bioinformatics. He is also the Co-Director of the Ph.D.-Bioinformatics Program and a Steering Committee Member of the Professional Science Master’s (PSM) Bioinformatics Program at Temple University. His current research focuses on examining the genetic mechanisms that underlie rapidly evolving systems and drive functional divergence with his lab employing a combination of experimental, theoretical, and computational approaches to investigate rapidly evolving genes, traits, and genetic networks and the role they play in phenotypic and species divergence.
