Bio
Robert Rasmussen (Ph.D. EE, ISU 1975) is an Engineering Fellow at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he has supported several space flight projects as a systems engineer in technical, management, and review roles, and at both system and subsystem levels. Assignments have included leading attitude control subsystem development for both the Galileo and Cassini projects, leading flight system research projects in fault-tolerant multi-computing and in general model-based autonomy software frameworks and demonstrations, and most recently, serving as the system architect for Europa Clipper during project formulation. He has also served as Chief Technologist and Chief Engineer in JPL technical divisions for software and for systems engineering, respectively, developing and teaching model-based architecting methods in both areas. He is presently advising the JPL Center for Autonomy.
