He subsequently held a research position at the Abdus Salam ICTP Trieste, a Marie Curie fellowship at the University of Paris, and a senior post-doctoral research position at Nikhef Amsterdam where he was awarded the NWO VIDI research grant by the Dutch organisation for scientific research.
In 2015 he was awarded the prestigious ERC consolidator grant to lead a research team working on a research project involving quantum gravity, black holes, and modular forms.
Research Interests
Sameer's research interests lie broadly in quantum field theory and string theory, and their interactions with mathematics. Some particular topics of interest are:

Exact results in supersymmetric field theory and supergravity
Automorphic forms and, in particular, Mock modular forms
Non-perturbative spectrum of states in string theory
Non-rational conformal field theories in two dimensions and their applications in string theory
