Bio
I have lived and worked for much of the past 20 years in Asia, where I have gathered evidence, partnered with a variety of stakeholders and helped develop policy for programmes focusing on gender, sexual health, non-communicable diseases and human rights. I work closely with national governments, civil society organisations, research partners, WHO and UNFPA in Asia and the Middle East.
My research focuses on the following areas:
> Analysis of the extent to which global health organisations are gender-responsive
> Analysis of how empirical evidence is used in decision-making processes in global health priority-setting, policy formulation, and programme implementation.
> Regulatory and policy options for control of non-communicable diseases, particularly in low- and middle-income countries
My work has been funded by a variety of donors including EU, Wellcome Trust, ESRC, MRC, the UN and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
