Bio
Saravanan Subramaniam was born on July 5th, 1984, in Tamilnadu, India. From 2001-2005 he studied Bachelor Pharmacy in PSG College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. From 2006-2008 he studied Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology at SASTRA University and graduated with A grades. From 2011-2014 he worked on his doctoral thesis in the Institute of Medicine and graduated in 2014 with magna cum laude in Giessen, Germany. He completed postdoctoral training from three different institutes from 2014 to 2019. From 2014-2016 he did his first postdoc in the lab of Prof. Christoph Reinhardt and Prof. Wolfram Ruf at the Center for Thrombosis in Hemostasis, Germany. From 2016-2017 he did his second postdoc in the lab of Dr. Craig Fletcher at the McAllister Heart Institute, University of Chapel Hill, USA. From 2017-2019 he did his third postdoc in the lab of Dr. Hartmut Weiler at Versiti-Blood Research Institute, Milwaukee, USA. Current, he holds the scientist-I position at Versiti-Blood Research Institute, Milwaukee, USA (Advisor: Dr. Hartmut Weiler). He published over 20 research articles as first-, co-author with above 500 citations (H-index without self-citations:9) and received a couple of independent research grant/fellowship from a Pharma industry and Institution. He was well-trained for intravital imaging and microsurgeries in rodents, and established various inflammation and thrombosis models at the CTH-Mainz, Germany as well as Versiti-Blood Research Institute, USA.
His research interest is focused on translational aspects of vascular inflammation, coagulation biology, receptor cooperativity, and immunothrombosis, in particular in the context of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and Protease-activated receptors (PARs) and its sequels, such as sepsis, stroke, organ failure. Also, testing novel small molecules to reduce hyper-inflammation and -coagulation states during those diseases.
