Savin’s research is targeted towards understanding weather extremes in changing climate, and their impacts on environment and society in Australia and the Asia-Pacific regions. His work also promotes collaboration between climate scientists, data scientists (machine learning, statistics and data mining researchers) and the end-user communities across multidisciplinary sectors in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Savin also leads the Net Zero Initiatives within the Centre for New Energy Transition Research (CfNETR) at Federation University Australia. CfNETR aims to develop innovative, reliable and quality solutions to provide both utilities and policymakers with technology options to deliver economic and sustainable energy to the community. Net Zero Initiative emphasizes on topics such as optimizing water and energy use via the water and energy nexus for a low-carbon society, minimizing the environmental impact of the built environment, understanding the impact of climate change on extreme weather events that affect energy and water, and achieving zero emissions in transportation.
