S. Mieruch

Sebastian Mieruch received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany, in 2009 at the working group “Atmospheric physics and chemistry,” which is part of the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP), where he moved there in 2006 due to his interests in environmental science and started his doctoral thesis on the statistical analysis of global water vapor trends based on satellite data. During his main study of physics in Oldenburg, Germany, he focused on time-series analysis, statistics, and nonlinear/complex dynamics. His diploma thesis on phytoplankton dynamics was accomplished with the working group theoretical physics/complex systems in Oldenburg. There he has deepened his knowledge on atmospheric physics, Bayesian statistics, stochastic processes, and information theory. He is currently with the University of Bremen. His research interests concern the detection of climate change signals from environmental time series, statistical climatology, climate variability, as well as climate extremes and prediction.
