Shangce GAO received his B.S. degree from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2005, and M.E. and D.E. degrees from University of Toyama, Toyama, Japan in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He worked with Tongji University, from 2011 to 2012, and Donghua University from 2012 to 2014, as an Associate Professor. From 2014, he is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Toyama, Japan, and gets promoted to Professor in 2023. His current research interests include nature-inspired technologies, mobile computing, machine learning, and neural networks for real-world applications. His research has led to over 100 publications in top venues such as IEEE TEVC, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE CYB, IEEE TSMCS, IEEE TITS, etc. He was a recipient of a Best Paper Award at IEEE International Conference on Progress in Informatics and Computing, the Shanghai Rising-Star Scientist award, the Chen-Guang Scholar of Shanghai award, the Outstanding Academic Performance Award of IEICE, and the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award of IPSJ. He serves as an Associate Editor for many international journals such as IEEE TNNLS, IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica, and so on. He also serves as a Secretary for Hokuriku Section of IEICE, and has served on the program committees for several international professional conferences, including AAAI, NeurIPS, and IEEE CEC.
