Bio
Silas Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Office of Medical Education, UNSW Sydney.
His work is in clinical skills education, including in communication skills. He has successfully implemented a Simulated Patient Program (SPP) into the UNSW Medicine curriculum, as well as the technologically and educationally innovative Online Simulated Patient Interaction and Assessment (OSPIA) platform.
A significant research project relates to OSPIA, a telehealth-style approach to communication skills training in junior medical students. This incorporates machine learning techniques to deliver feedback on non-verbal communication behaviours.
Silas is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, a Fellow of the Scientia Education Academy and multiple award-winning educator.
