Simon C Barry

Prof Barry has had a long standing interest in transcriptional regulation and how gene networks collaborate to shape a phenotype. He has applied this to the field of molecular immunology. Prof Barry is now using 3D genomics approaches to map the genetic risk of autoimmune disease to the regulatory elements in T cells that it affects in order to functionally define the defects in immune function caused by genetic risk, and has applied that to an IBD risk region in man, and type 1 Diabetes.
