Stefan J. Rupitsch (Member, IEEE) received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in mechatronics from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Linz, Austria, in 2004 and 2008, respectively, and the Habilitation degree from the University of Erlangen–Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany, in 2018. From 2008 to 2020, he was with the Chair of Sensor Technology, University of Erlangen–Nürnberg, where he held a Deputy Professorship. Since December 2020, he has been a Full Professor of Electrical Instrumentation and Embedded Systems with the University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany. His research interests include piezoelectric transducers, energy harvesting, embedded systems, ultrasonic imaging and therapy, simulation-based material characterization, and noncontact measurements. Dr. Rupitsch is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Sensors Journal and the TM-Technisches Messen journal. He serves as a Guest Associate Editor for the Journal of Sensors and Sensor Systems.
