Bio
Dr Stephanie Partridge is a Senior Research Fellow and an Accredited Practising Dietitian in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. She has held continuous National Heart Foundation (NHF) and NHMRC Fellowships, including NHMRC-NHF Early Career Fellowship (2019-22) and NHF Future Leader Fellowship (2023-26). She leads the Youth Consumer Program at the Engagement & Co-design Hub. In 2022, she was one of three researchers nationally shortlisted for the Emerging Leader in Science Eureka Prize for her research with young people.
She has expertise in digital health, public health nutrition and multidisciplinary research and is an advocate for the primary prevention of obesity and chronic diseases. Her research vision is to minimise the harms and harness the benefits of digital technologies to improve adolescents’ lifestyle behaviours. She researches how digitalisation affects food accessibility and consumption so that protective policies can be implemented. She co-designs research with young people to find scalable, low-cost and engaging solutions to improve their lifestyle behaviours. Youth Participatory Action Research principles underpin her research vision. In 2021, she assembled and led a consumer group of 16 youth advisors (13-18 years) named the Health Advisory Panel for Youth at The University of Sydney (HAPYUS). She is also a passionate science communicator and founded ‘Hungry for Science’ – a digital platform to communicate the latest science about young people to young people. As a testament to her research success and leadership, she was selected to represent Australia in 2018 at World Heart Federation Emerging Leaders Program in China and in 2021 as an inaugural Brilliant Woman in Digital Health by Telstra Health. She holds leadership roles locally, nationally and internationally, including co-chair of the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Early and Mid-Career sub-committee and co-chair of the International Association of Adolescent Health Young Professionals Committee.
