Stephen D. Mcphail

Stephen D. McPhail has a 39-year career with the U.K.'s National Oceanography Centre and the Institute of Oceanographic Sciences, where he has contributed to the Autosub AUV programme. Leading the teams who sent the Autosub AUVs on unprecedented missions under Antarctic Ice shelves and Arctic sea-ice were exciting highlights. Having conceived of the Autosub long range AUV concept over 10 years ago, and working hard with his colleagues with NOC to make it a reality, it is very pleasing to see ALR6000 finally become an operational tool for ocean science.
