Steven M. Albert

Steven M. Albert is Chair of the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh. He is the Hallen Chair of Community Health and Social Justice. He has nearly 30 years of research experience in public health, aging, neurologic disease, and health behavior. He has completed an extensive array of aging services research, including an evaluation of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s statewide falls prevention programs. These efforts led to certification of the programs and approval for Title-IIID ACL/AoA funding. He helped redesign screening for eligibility in PA’s long term care waiver program. His current research merges state aging services program data (subsidized prescription, housing, transportation services) with hospital electronic health records to assess the effect of meeting social needs on health outcomes.
