Research Interests
1) Aminothiol redox and metabolomic responses in catabolic disease (e.g. critical illness, tuberculosis, HIV, cystic fibrosis,), malnutrition, obesity, and nutritional repletion;
2) Metabolic and clinical effects of specialized nutrition support in catabolic states (e.g. effect of glutamine, vitamin D supplementation, and caloric dose in ICU patients; translational studies in animal models of inflammation/infection)
3) Mechanisms and nutrient/growth factor/redox regulation of intestinal cell growth, repair, and function in animal and human models of intestinal inflammation and short gut syndrome.
