个人简介
Teresa Summavielle graduated in Biochemistry and obtained a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto (Dec/2003). Her research interest in addiction biology started at the pre-doctoral level and continued throughout her postdoctoral training, first at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Univ. of Porto (2004-2007) and later at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC, Porto). As a postdoc, she obtained two competitive grants from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, published 10 articles, 5 as corresponding author, including J Neurosc and Addic Biol (top ranked in Addiction), and supervised her first PhD student. Then, she secured a Ciencia 2007 (Portuguese Science Foundation, FCT) research position to become an assistant researcher at IBMC (Porto), within MJ Saraiva's Molecular Neurobiology Group, where she started her own research line. During that period she obtained 2 FCT research grants as a PI and funding from Sigma Tau (Italy). Afterwards, she obtained an highly competitive research position as Principal Investigator (FCT 2012) and started her own research group at IBMC (Sep/2013). In 2015, she became a group leader at i3S, one of the top Health Sciences institutes in the country. She supervised 4 postdocs, 10 PhDs (4 ongoing) and 13 Master students (3 ongoing) and attracted close to 3M€ of competitive national and international funding, which include a FP7 EU project and recently she integrated the EU LIVESAFER project. Her recent publications include Neuropsychopharmacology, Nat Commun, Cell Rep, Sci Signal, Brain, Brain Commun, Neurosc Biobehav Rev. She is also highly engaged in the scientific and academic community: She on the Board of the Portuguese Neuroscience Society and on the Board of the National Union for Higher Education (contributing for better Science Policy). She represented the Neuroscience line at the i3S Ethical Committee for Animal Experimentation since its creation (and until 2021) and she presently represents Portugal at CARE (FENS). At the Univ. of Porto, she coordinates courses in Addiction Biology in Masters and Doctoral Programs. Since 2008, she coordinates an highly recognized campaign to prevent drug use in the adolescent population, which has reached over 30 000 high-school students. Her commitment towards Science and Society has been recognized with two “Women in Science” distinctions awarded by National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture (Ciência Viva).
