C. Douglas Thake received the B.Sc. degree (with first class) in sport and exercise science from Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK, in 1995, and the M.Sc. degree in human and applied physiology from King's College, University of London, London, UK, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in exercise immunology and altitude from Coventry University, Coventry, UK, in 2006. He is an Applied Human Physiologist and currently holds a Senior Lectureship at Coventry University. His recent research interests include thermoregulation and cardiovascular stability in personal protective clothing, physiological responses to acute and chronic hypoxia, and exercise immunology and oxidative stress.
