Bio
Thomas is an academic GP in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health and deputy theme lead for Digital Health in the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West London. He is also a Clinical Research Fellow in the NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre, working on evaluating the COVID Oximetry @ Home programme.
He has a wide range of research interests, from non-communicable epidemiology and global health research to the application of machine learning methods to routinely collected healthcare data to understand population health and the connectedness of healthcare providers.
Thomas completed clinical training in 2021, working in the department as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Primary Care. During his training, he has worked in a variety of primary and secondary care roles, and for organisations including NHS England, Public Health England and the King’s Fund. In 2015 he was awarded an NIHR Research Methods scholarship to complete an MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, graduating with Distinction.
Since 2017 he has been co-lead investigator and lead statistician for May Measurement Month (MMM) a global blood pressure awareness and screening campaign, initiated by the International Society of Hypertension, which to date has screened over 4 million people worldwide. He has supervised a number of BSc, MSc and MPH students and visiting researchers on projects related to MMM.
