Tim E. McKnight received the B.S. and Master's degrees in engineering science from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1989 and 1996, respectively. Since 1989, he has been on the research staff of the Monolithic Systems Development Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN. Throughout much of his career, he has investigated physical measurement techniques in the areas of pressure, temperature, and flow. In the last several years, his research interests have focused on developing micro-and nanoscale systems for cellular manipulation and interrogation, including microfluidic platforms and carbon nanofiber-based systems for electrochemical, fluidic, and tethered-gene interfacing to live cells.
